How to trial the Peace at Work Technique
Trial the Peace at Work Technique with a mirror or a 'willing' partner and comfortable seating? If your partner is not 100% into it - you are better off to practice on your own.
What happens
Peace at Work is practiced with open eyes. You focus on the bridge of the nose, the region between the eyes of your own face in the mirror or the other person sitting opposite you and just observe. Focusing in this way stills your mind. As your mind becomes peaceful you find that negative stress and tension rises to the surface and is released. In this process, you may be aware of the effects of the negative stress and tension being released. The effects may be visually, physically, emotionally and mentally apparent.

You will be asked at regular intervals to just observe - feel - take a deep breath, and occasionally to stretch your fingers and toes. If you experience a lot of tension coming up, when you are prompted to stretch your fingers and toes, also roll your ankles and wrists. This will help you release the negative stress and tension physically.
At first, seeing the visual effects and distortion as tension is released may seem quite strange and confronting to you. After practicing for a short time you will realise that this is a very natural process.
Visual effects
You may first notice the face become foggy. This is surface tension being released. As you progress, this may turn to blurriness and then distortion, as more negative stress and tension is released. The distortions show us the nature of the tension being released. Further on, you may observe your (or your partner’s) eyes becoming clearer and sometimes appearing very intense as more layers of tension are released. This is fine. These are all visual signs of tension being released. Just keep focused as instructed and allow any negative stress and tension to surface and release.

Physical effects
Your eyes may start to feel gritty, even sting and stream from time-to-time. As you progress you may feel a heaviness releasing through your arms and legs. This is fine. These are signs of physical tension being released. Just keep focusing on the bridge of the nose at eye level and observe what tension you feel releasing throughout your body.
Emotional effects
As you release tension, you may experience sensations and/or emotions such as sadness or joy. This is fine. These are signs of emotional tension being released. Just keep focusing on the bridge of the nose at eye level and observe what emotional tension comes to the surface and is released.
Mental effects
You may feel mentally stressed while practicing the Peace at Work Technique, with stressful thoughts at times entering your mind. You may even experience constant thoughts. This is fine. These are signs of mental tension being released. Just keep focusing on the bridge of the nose at eye level and observe what mental tension comes to the surface and is released. Don’t analyse the thoughts, just release them.
